- 36” Bench
- Aspen log, pine & Western Cedar woods
- Indoor/ Outdoor
Inspired by Thomas Molesworth’s western furniture of the 1930’s, we used Colorado Aspen logs for the base and Western Red Cedar for the seat to create a beautiful bench unlike anything you've ever seen. We use larger logs for the legs and have created an arched apron on the sides using smaller Colorado Aspen logs. We chose to use Western Red Cedar for the bench seat because of the durability and color. We use a durable outdoor finish that would be at home indoors as well.
Bench measures 36”L x 17 1/2”H x 13 1/2”W.
We harvest from dead standing Aspen trees in the Colorado Rocky Mountains to get wood from logs that have their own unique character with natural checking, worm holes and other distress caused by nature. All of our Aspen Log line is produced from logs that have reached Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC). That means it is stable and will not continue to change (the checking or cracking) in a controlled environment like the inside your home.
ABOUT THE FINISH: We use an exterior wood finish that outperforms all other transparent wood finishes.
NO FINISH IS EVER WATER-PROOF AND WATER IS WOOD'S ENEMY. Outdoor finishes are water-resistant, the bench can handle being rained and snowed on, but it cannot handle STAYING WET. Cover it or store it during bad weather. For ultimate protection of the wood, you can reapply the stain.
This bench is usually ready to ship in 1 to 2 weeks after ordering.
Our “Aspen Mountain Log Cabin” products are designed by Randy Rasmussen. His inspiration is Thomas Molesworth, a western furniture maker of the 1930’s whose legacy is timeless cowboy and western furniture decor.
Using Aspen logs which are hand-peeled and then split, enhances the natural warm tones of the Aspen. Randy’s technique of applying the “half-log pickets” requires hand fitting of each piece to create a pattern of color and texture.
